About Koers

Independent judgment. Clear direction. Practical execution.

William Gould founded Koers to give law firms, Alternative Business Structures (ABS), and legal-service organizations an independent read of how they actually operate. Judgment is formed from evidence, held apart from any vendor relationship or preferred answer, and written so leadership can act on it.

William Gould

Founder & Managing Director

William Gould is the founder of Koers Consulting Group. He works with law firms, Alternative Business Structures, and legal-service organizations on governance, AI adoption, and operating performance.

His background combines legal training with an MBA and enterprise technology experience. He has worked in law-firm operations and legal technology, applied AI to real professional-services workflows, and managed teams through operational and technology change.

That combination shapes how Koers works: independent analysis, practical recommendations, and implementation that fits how an organization actually operates.

Koers is a consulting firm, not a law firm, and does not provide legal services or legal advice.

The name

A word for direction.

Organizations rarely lack options. They need clarity about which direction to take.

Koers is derived from a Dutch word for course or direction. The firm exists to help organizations set one and execute it.

What we do

Two services. Four practices.

Koers is a management and technology consulting firm for law firms, ABS, and other professional-service organizations. It launches with two flagship services: ABS External Audits and AI Consulting.

Both sit inside four practices: strategy, technology, operations, and risk and governance. An engagement can draw on more than one, and the practices are set out in full on the capabilities page.

The initial focus is legal and professional services, where the operating environment is regulated, professional, and complex. Read who Koers works with in legal and professional services.

Principles

Five commitments in every engagement.

  1. Independence

Analysis is formed from the evidence, not from a vendor relationship or a preferred answer.

  2. Evidence

Findings rest on documents, data, interviews, and tested controls, not on impressions.

  3. Practicality

Recommendations are designed to be implemented by the organization as it actually operates.

  4. Confidentiality

Client information stays within the engagement and is handled with the discretion a regulated organization requires.

  5. Measurable outcomes

Every engagement defines what success looks like and how it will be measured.

How we work

Clarity. Direction. Execution.

The three words are the method, not a slogan. Every engagement moves through them in order, and the work does not stop at direction.

  1. Clarity

Understand the organization, evidence, risks, systems, and operating reality.

  2. Direction

Determine the right course and priorities.

  3. Execution

Translate recommendations into practical systems, controls, and measurable action.

Independence

How independence is protected.

Because Koers may provide both audit and consulting services, independence must be protected.

  • Koers evaluates independence before accepting an audit.
  • Prior consulting relationships are reviewed.
  • Potential conflicts are documented.
  • Audit conclusions are based on evidence.
  • Consulting opportunities do not influence audit findings.
